Last night we were at the fab Newton Hill concert …

… Lovely.  Saw the same families (and pups!) we have seen over the past five or so years – and, of course,  Worcester cheerleader, Brian Goslow  (rah, rah, Bri!).

As always, the question we asked ourselves, the question we always ask ourselves: WHY AREN’T THERE MORE PEOPLE HERE? WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A CITY OF  (about) 180,000 to really get behind our summer music concerts? A city basking in the warm summer sun,  a city whose Newton Hill concerts are FREE and a showcase for wonderful local talent? A city whose Newton Square  concerts are held in the hub of Worcester’s very safe West Side, a cool green tree-filled space (the other side of Elm Park) filled with young families, cute dogs and a table staffed by friendly people selling the most excellent pizza, ice cream and  lemonade? Why are there thousands of people for Providence’s free Water Fire, thousands of music fans for the free oldie concerts held at the Boston Hatch Shell and just a hundred or so folks for Newton Hill?  Maybe a couple of hundred for the SUPER ELM PARK concerts (be there tomorrow for an excellent show!)

Through the years we have been to them all. With my dog Bailey (and now Jett)  in tow! And yet, when it comes to enjoying summer music in Worcester, we were/are often part of a teensy (but appreciative, lovely) crowd.

Let’s get it together, Wormtown!
