Some questions for Worcester’s CDCs
Written by admin on October 6th, 2012editor’s note: To provide some balance re: our coverage of the city’s CDC’s, we run this letter from Jim May, a city guy who owns some rental property near WPI.
By Jim May
a) will these guys open their accounting books for the last 3 years?
b) will they show salaries, expenditures, etc.?
c) how much of their money comes from state housing grants? from City of Worcester? from federal?
d) how about a detailed history of they have grown from 41 years ago and how their mission has changed?
e) why not put some muscle on the City Inspection services to punish absentee landlords more?
…
The state of MA with its ever expanding government programs, if we have forgotten that market driven solutions are the most efficient and –ultimately—the fairest.
We have seen in Chelsea MA and with the Worcester CDCs not eager to open their books and to show their effectiveness and what it is they actually do.
The Worcester housing dept–under Scott Hayman and then under the more recent housing director, Vachon-Jackson–have been working for decades without any scrutiny.
The public deserves to know what is going on. That’s all I am saying.
