Madness!! Their massive egos in check (to ultimately get reelected – the amoral/immoral bunch!)!!

AMERICAN FACTORY FARMS! SO MUCH SUFFERING – HELP THE ANIMALS!

I EAT NO MEAT – ANY TYPE! EVER SINCE I WAS A COLLEGE KID AND HAD MY MEALS AT THE VEGGIE “BASICS” CAFETERIA at my school, UMass Amherst♥️♥️♥️! I FEEL GREAT! – I’ve a CLEAR CONSCIENCE KNOWING I’VE SAVED HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF ANIMALS FROM TORTURE and BRUTAL DEATHS!

PLEASE! Go veggie! Or, at the very least, CUT WAY WAY BACK on the meat! – Rose T.

From PETA.ORG:

Need a reason to go vegan? How about tens of billions?

That’s how many animals are killed for food in the U.S. each year!

The easiest way to help animals like the ones pictured below is to go vegan!

VEG-chicken-NC-JO
Factory Farm chickens – the product in all American super markets!: They live in their excrement, injected with hormones to make them top heavy! Wings, white meat, BIG! Legs teeny! Most can’t even walk! CHANGE AMERICA!!

VEG-pig-COI-JO
Factory Farm Pigs: one of the most intelligent animals on the planet (the equivalent of dogs) – They get so stressed from living in teeny crates, living in filth, being killed alive THEY SECRETE A STRESS HORMONE THAT ACTUALLY RUINS THE TASTE OF THEIR MEAT AND REQUIRES PRODUCERS to cover it up by infecting them with more hormones, antibiotics and drugs! CHANGE AMERICA!

Just imagine: as a vegan, you’ll being speaking up for these animals — and all other animals who face abuse on today’s farms.

You’ll have a clear conscience and be able to look these animals in the eye without guilt, as you vow to make their lives better — while also improving your own.

You’ll save more than a hundred animals each year, and you can also become healthier by consuming foods that don’t contribute to heart disease, cancer and strokes. Plus, you’ll help to reduce climate change and world hunger.

WHO THE HELL IS LARRY LUCCHINO KIDDING?!

By Rose T.

The City of Worcester bends over backwards to accommodate Larry Lucchino – he’s getting a HUGE TAX BREAK for bringing the Paw Sox, his minor league Red Sox team, to my old neighborhood and completing the gentrification of my love♥️KelleySquare/Green Island!

Yet what’s he given to the people whose neighborhood he’s decimating in order to make millions of dollars for himself and his money-peeps?

So far “the great negotiator” City Manager Ed Augustus has wringed out an underwhelming $23,000 payment and another $23,000 to support JUST TWO SUMMERS OF RECREATION WORCESTER, the city’s free summer fun program for our underprivileged kids.

WHAT A JOKE!!! This $ from a multi-millionaire!

WHY NOT BUILD A BRANCH LIBRARY OR A FOOD PANTRY IN/NEAR THE NEW BASEBALL STADIUM?!

NO BREAD CRUMBS!

The BIG DEAL we are all waiting for? The CBA – Community Benefits Agreement – that union guy Kevin Ksen, the Worcester Community-Labor Coalition (WCLC), Dante C.’s better half😉 Martha Assefa, and scores of Woo social service agencies/social justice warriors have been DEMANDING FOR MONTHS.

Larry is giving them – and the City of Worcester – the run around! THE CITY HAS BEEN WAITING FOR ONE YEAR+ for him and his people to sign the contract!

Larry Lucchino and his crew HAVE NOT SIGNED THE CONTRACT – the CBA – WHICH stipulates that LOCAL Worcester laborers from the Green Island/Union Hill/Kelley Square neighborhoods are hired first – and paid a living wage (starting at $20 an hour for basic laborers and much more $$ for Woo’s skilled carpenters, welders, electricians etc) – and that there is an apprenticeship program for the unions’ apprentices! And … that regular Worcester neighborhood folks, minorities and women will get most of the jobs, the lion’s share of the stadium construction jobs … As well as have their supply businesses supply all sorts of materials to the Woo Sox stadium-builders: lumber, paint, concrete, steel, etc. … And for Green Islanders to be allowed to use the new baseball stadium for free during down times, and to inject their small businesses, if they run any, into the stadium.

One free baseball game ticket per season for each Worcester Public School student is NOT ENOUGH, LARRY! How about a tablet or e reader per kid?

MOSTLY, LARRY WE DON’T WANT YOU TO CHEAT US – WE WANT OUR FAIR SHARE FOR OUR INNER-CITY SACRIFICE!

SHOW US THE MONEY!…through jobs and patronizing our construction/supply businesses. This WILL cost you millions!

Too bad!

Larry, SIGN THE FUCKING CBA already! Why make yourself the bad guy?

City Manager Augustus and the Worcester City Council really threw it all away when THEY SIGNED OFF ON THE PAW SOX-CITY OF WORCESTER CONTRACT/AGREEMENT without FIRST INSISTING on a signed and sealed CBA agreement!

Now the City of Worcester has no leverage … no hand!

And Larry Lucchino can cheat us!⚾

⚾Playing hard ball, Larry, with the good people of Woo and the leader-rubes of Worcester means … you suck! or: YOU’RE OUT!⚾

The talk by some Worcester politicians about getting the minor league Pawtucket Red Sox to move to Worcester from Rhode Island reminds me that once upon a time, Worcester had both a minor league team in the National Association and a major league team in the National League.

In 1880 the Worcester Club joined the Majors replacing the Syracuse, New York, club which went bankrupt. It seems the Worcester team was the Worcester Worcesters. Sometimes it was also known as the Brown Stockings, Brownies or the Ruby Legs.

The team played ball in the Worcester Agricultural Fairgrounds which were located in the general area of Becker College and divided by Highland Street.

(John) Lee Richmond was the team’s ace and stopper. Reading about him reminds me of Steve Carlton of the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1972 Carlton won 27 of the 59 games won by the Phillies.

Lee Richmond pitched three years with the Worcesters. Each year he pitched over 400 innings. His best year was when his record was 32 wins and 32 losses. It is likely the great number of innings pitched caused him arm trouble and shortened his career. He ended his playing days with the Providence Grays of the National League where he played outfield.

Richmond is probably best known for pitching the first perfect no-hit game in the Major Leagues. He did so in the second to last game of the 1880 season. It occurred in Worcester on the then Worcester Agricultural Fairgrounds.

There is a marker in front of the Becker College Academic Center marking the field.

Also in the same year the Worcester club was no hit by Buffalo on the same field. The first record of a team being no hit on its home field.

In 1882 the Worcester Worcesters had such poor attendance that it financially failed. At the last game of the season there were only six paying fans. The Worcester Club was always at a disadvantage in terms of attendance. All of the other National League teams were located in cities with at least 75,000 people. Worcester at that time only had 58,000 people.

The Ruby Legs folded and the National League went looking for a club to replace Worcester. It choose the Philadelphia Quakers, a minor league team, to join the National League. The Philadelphia Quakers later became the Philadelphia Phillies of the modern baseball era.

There is some talk today about how the Worcester Worcesters moved to Philadelphia and became the Phillies. This seems not to be true. Although the Philadelphia Quakers replaced Worcester in the National League, no players nor managers nor owner went to Philadelphia.
Worcester has a long baseball history and present. The minor league Braveheart plays baseball at Holy Cross’ field. The Worcester Tornadoes, a minor league team before the Bravehearts, played in the City for many years.

Going past the Lake Park field I see the Babe Ruth League teams playing ball – many of them with players I am sure are professional hopefuls.

I have mixed feeling about the efforts to get the Pawsox to come to Worcester. It seems like a slap in face to the Bravehearts.
